Ivy Spires Announces Collaboration with Harvard Debate Council and Launch of the World Debate Championship 2026

Ivy Spires, a global education organization focused on advancing speech and debate in India, today announced its collaboration with the Harvard Debate Council, alongside the launch of the World Debate Championship 2026, to be held in New Delhi from May 1st to 3rd, 2026.

Over the past year, Ivy Spires has been actively building a structured ecosystem for debate and public speaking in India—introducing globally benchmarked formats such as World Schools Debate (WSD) and Original Oratory to students across leading international and IB schools.

The organization has conducted workshops, training programs, and competitive engagements across prominent institutions, including Nita Mukesh Ambani Junior School, Dhirubhai Ambani International School, Jamnabai Narsee International School, and Ascend International School, among others—bringing international standards of argumentation, adjudication, and communication into Indian classrooms.

Through its collaboration with the Harvard Debate Council, Ivy Spires has enabled access to globally recognized debate pedagogy, structured curriculum design, and exposure to international judging frameworks. This initiative has contributed to training a growing cohort of students equipped with skills in critical thinking, persuasive communication, and analytical reasoning.

Over the past year, Ivy Spires has:

Worked with leading IB and international schools across major urban centers

Delivered high-intensity debate and public speaking programs to a rapidly expanding student base

Introduced global competitive formats and evaluation standards into school ecosystems

Built a network of trained adjudicators, educators, and institutional partners

Building on this foundation, the World Debate Championship 2026 aims to create one of India’s most rigorous and internationally aligned platforms for student discourse.

The championship will bring together top student debaters from across India and international circuits, competing in formats such as World Schools Debate and Original Oratory, judged by experienced adjudicators trained in global standards.

Designed to reflect the intensity of premier international tournaments, the event will require participants to demonstrate depth of analysis, clarity of argument, and the ability to engage with complex global issues.

Participation will be selective, ensuring a high-quality competitive field aligned with international benchmarks.

“Debate is not just about speaking well—it is about learning how to think with discipline and engage with ideas responsibly. Through this collaboration and the World Debate Championship, we are building a platform that prepares students to participate in global conversations with clarity and conviction.”

Dr. Tripp Rebrovick, Director of the Harvard Debate Council, said:

“We are encouraged by the growth of structured debate education in India through this collaboration. Expanding access to rigorous argumentation and dialogue is critical to developing the next generation of global leaders.”

With participation expected from top-tier schools and emerging debate talent, the World Debate Championship is positioned to become a flagship platform for intellectual competition and discourse in India.
